Frequently Used Technology Service Terms Explained

Cloud Computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage (cloud storage) and computing power, without direct active management by the user. Large clouds often have functions distributed over multiple locations, each location being a data center. Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and typically using a "pay-as-you-go" model which can help in reducing capital expenses but may also lead to unexpected operating expenses for unaware users.

Cloud Services or cloud-based service refers to any software application, services or resources that can be accessed by users via the internet.

Database Management is a process of using best practices to ensuring the health and performance of a business database.

Database Management System (DBMS) structure method of stored data that provides end users better access and control over stored data. Users can create, edit and update information to retrieve at a later time. DBMS can be caterorized into various types; Like Centralized or Distributed. A Centralized system is where all the data lives in a single location, and users can access that location to manipulate the data. A Distributed system is where the data lives in various nodes or locations.

Microsoft 365 (formaly AKA Office 365) is a set of apps that helps people and businesses stay connected and get things done. Microsoft 365 apps work across multiple operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. There are plans available for individuals, families, educational institutions, and businesses of all sizes.

Operating System (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides common services for computer programs.

System Administration - AKA system administrator, sysadmin, or admin is a person who is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, especially multi-user computers, such as servers. The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers they manage meet the needs of the users, without exceeding a set budget when doing so.

Systems Analysis is the process of studying a procedure or business to identify its goal and purposes and create systems and procedures that will efficiently achieve them. Another view sees system analysis as a problem-solving technique that breaks down a system into its component pieces, and how well those parts work and interact to accomplish their purpose.

Systems & Networking Design is a category of systems design that deals with data transport mechanisms. As with other systems' design disciplines, network design follows an analysis stage, where requirements are generated, and precedes implementation, where the system (or relevant system component) is constructed. The objective of systems' & network design is to satisfy data communication requirements while minimizing expense.

Web Design encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design; user interface design (UI design); authoring, including standardised code and proprietary software; user experience design (UX design); and search engine optimization. Often many individuals will work in teams covering different aspects of the design process, although some designers will cover them all. The term "web design" is normally used to describe the design process relating to the front-end (client side) design of a website including writing markup (HTML). Web design partially overlaps web engineering in the broader scope of web development. Web designers are expected to have an awareness of usability and be up to date with web accessibility guidelines.
